Winter driving and your engine air filter...
As one who does drive the rush hour, it is obvious that at some point there has to be times when you will be driving to and from work during inclimate weather. It is also a known fact that you could not complete very many rush hour drives if your battery is not in good working condition. I could say, a battery would be probably the item that is also checked more often. But, then, there are other things that will keep you rolling during rush hour.
Many of them are considered the secondary checks that are also important. Just think; your engine (not your car as a whole) needs at least two basic things. Those things are air and gas; which brings me to say, "don't forget to change your engine air filter."
Often, your filter will be checked when you are having your oil changed; but don't count on it. After a brief look at where it is and how it can be changed, you would be able to change it (yourself) on a regular basis.
If there is any credence we can add to this practice; just think of a car that races. Do you recall a racing announcer say, "a driver encounters a section of dirty air!" Yes, air is everything when it comes to racing!
Those engines require lots of air to develop horsepower. People who "do work on cars" have said, "if your air filter is dirty, your car is subject to stop in it's tracks!" Or, it will not start at all.
At a cost of around 15-25 dollars, that's a small price to pay to keep your car "up and really!"
